You've felt the Thunder, you've heard the Roar of the Engines, but this time it's different… this time it's YOU behind the wheel for this ultimate driving Experience! Ever had the itch to get behind the wheel of a Stock Car? Wonder what it would be like to turn some laps at the Speedway? Well you're going to experience a day at the oval driving Late Model Stock Cars under expert supervision.

The day begins with the instructor going over both the controls and the safety features of the cars, along with instruction for racing lines, braking and accelerating zones and techniques. Then you’ll be fitted with a fireproof racing suit and helmet and get fitted in the cars and head out for your first set of laps.

Next it’s a walking tour of the track surface where the instructor will point out the different racing grooves and how to use them. Pylons are set up to guide the students as to where they should be braking and getting back on the gas at various points on the speedway. Then you’re in the race car for your morning sessions!

After each session, the instructor enters into a detailed discussion with each driver, giving you individual guidance as to how to improve from your last session.  After the morning sessions, lunch is served, then you’re back in the car for your afternoon sessions.

Your Full Day Stock Car Driving Experience includes:
• 3 in-class sessions of instruction;
• 4 on track sessions of 10-15 laps each;
• Track and car orientation;
• Minimum of 45 laps per student;
• One-on-one driving instruction;
• Record of all laps;
• Helmet and drivers suit for the day;
• Professionally prepared Thunder Cars;

Track:
1/3 mile high-banked tri-oval.

Cars: 
New NASCAR Barrie Limited Late Models capable of speeds in excess of 100 MPH or 160 KPH. These cars remain set at race specifications and have not been regulated in any way for the schools!

Specifications:
• Weight- 2950lbs
• Motors – 340 Horse Power GM crate racing engine
• One Ford body with a automatic transmission
• One GM body with a standard transmission
• 9” floater rear-end
• Disk brakes all around

Safety:
• Full Roll Cages, Racing Seats and Harness.

Tires:
• Hossier 980 Slick Racing Tires.

Instructors:
• Barrie’s top NASCAR Whelen Series Late Model drivers as well as guest appearances by other accomplished series drivers from around Ontario.

This Experience typically takes place on Fridays as the track is used for racing on Saturdays...makes a great way to start the weekend!

Want to share this Stock Car Driving Experience?You can share the excitement of your Stock Car Driving Experience with a loved one by giving them a 10-15 lap THRILL RIDE in the passenger seat of the tracks’ Official Pace Car with our professional race car driver and instructor at the wheel! They’ll also join you in pit lane and enjoy lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

Experience Location

Things to Remember

Full driver's licence not required.
A $1000 damage deposit will be held for the duration of the experience. Your card will just be authorized to cover this amount; no actual charge will be made unless damage is caused to a school car whilst you are in control of it.
A waiver of liability must be signed before participation.

Recommended Clothing

You will be provided with a racing suit and helmet for the day; we recommend that you wear flat, soft soled shoes, i.e. running shoes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What time does the day start and finish?
A. The day starts at 9am and finishes around 3pm.

Q. Does the Experience go ahead if it's raining?
A. Unfortunately not. Given the nature of the Experience dry weather conditions are required, so should the weather forecast call for rain all registered participants will be contacted in advance in order to reschedule their booking.

Q. Can my family come and watch me drive?
A. Yes, your family and friends are welcome to come and watch from the grandstand, although we recommend that they plan to watch the later sessions when you'll be at your fastest! Alternatively, should your family and friends wish to stay for the whole day they can sign up for our Thrill Ride package which includes 10-15 laps around the track (with an instructor at the wheel), lunch and refreshments.

Other Important Information

Multiple Thrill Riders are permitted (i.e. your whole family can come!). Please call us toll free at 1 888 WOW DAYS (969 3297) should you wish to add further Thrill Rides at $50.00 plus HST.

Other Restrictions

This event requires a minimum of 8 participants. You are welcome to attend as an individual but please keep in mind you will be sharing your Experience with others.
In the unlikely event that the minimum number of participants is not met at least two weeks prior to the scheduled date you will be contacted in order to arrange for you to attend an alternative date.
