Barrie to Toronto (and back again!) Flying Lesson

The adventure I received (as a gift from my wife) was the "Barrie to Toronto and Back" flying lesson. It was the experience of a lifetime as I have always been interested in aircraft and flight. This time I actually got to fly the plane. We took off from a small airport near Barrie and as soon as we were at 3,000 feet the instructor started to let me control the plane.A few moments (and lessons) later I was in full control and the instructor was sitting back.

I became familiar with all the instruments and radio communications. I had a headset with a microphone so that I could talk to the instructor and listen in on all the air traffic control communications.

We spoke with many different flight control centers as we flew from Barrie to Toronto. I took a few pictures of the CN tower as we flew by but quickly put the camera away as I was anxious to get back to flying.

On the return trip I mentioned that I lived in Keswick and the instructor replied "then lets go there on our way back".

He told me what heading to turn to and I flew the Ultra-light right over my house.

After flying over Keswick I adjusted the heading to Barrie using the GPS navigation system as my guide.

We arrived back at Barrie and the instructor took over for the landing.

It was an amazing experience that I will never forget.
